The Government of Spain has taken a significant step by approving the early allocation of ninety-eight million euros for activities of social interest for the year twenty twenty-five. This decision comes as a response to a long-standing demand from the third sector in Spain, as announced by Minister Pablo Bustinduy during a press conference following the Cabinet meeting.

These funds will primarily support initiatives aimed at combating social exclusion and poverty, as well as projects focusing on children, education, cultural rights, and family reconciliation. Bustinduy outlined that this early announcement intends to provide NGOs and social organisations with more certainty and stability.

In line with agreements made with regional governments, the majority of resources, amounting to three hundred seventy-five million euros, will be managed by the autonomous communities. The Ministry of Social Rights will soon present a proposal for distributing these funds to the regions.

The total budget derived from the generosity of citizens, with over half the population contributing to social causes through their tax returns. Minister Bustinduy emphasised the crucial role played by the third sector in improving the lives of millions in Spain, and reiterated that organisations such as Cruz Roja Española are eligible for these subsidies. The funds will specifically target programs addressing social care, education needs, gender violence, and promoting equality.
