A British holidaymaker is fighting for his life after suffering a serious fall from a balcony at the Hard Rock Hotel in Puerto Banus, Costa del Sol. The unnamed man was found in a critical condition and rushed to the Costa del Sol Hospital, before being transferred to the Regional University Hospital of Malaga for further treatment. The incident occurred early on Sunday morning.

Witnesses indicated the tourist fell from a first-floor balcony, which reportedly corresponds to the height of a third-floor drop due to the hotel’s construction. Authorities have yet to officially comment on the incident, but they are not treating it as a case of ‘balconing,’ where holidaymakers attempt risky jumps into pools or between balconies.

Three friends travelling with the injured man have been questioned by police as part of an ongoing investigation. Reports suggest they were unaware of the incident at first, as they were sleeping inside the hotel room when police arrived to inform them of what had happened.

This incident follows another recent case of injuries to holidaymakers in the area. Just hours before the balcony fall, two Irish tourists were injured in a golf buggy accident at a nearby course. Meanwhile, a British teenager was hospitalised two weeks prior after falling from a third-floor apartment in Ibiza, indicating a concerning trend among holidaymakers in the region.
