The Ibex-35 index closed on Tuesday with an increase of one point fifty-nine percent, reaching fourteen thousand three hundred twenty-three point four points, reflecting levels not seen since January two thousand eight. This marks the index’s ninth consecutive rise, the longest streak since August twenty twenty-two, following a level surpassing fourteen thousand points on Friday, which had not been achieved since May two thousand eight, before the financial crisis.
The Spanish stock market has demonstrated resilience, rising by twenty-three point fifty-three percent this year, the highest in Europe, followed by Frankfurt with twenty point seventy-three percent and Milan with eighteen point fifty-three percent. Key Spanish stocks mostly performed well; BBVA rose two point twenty-seven percent, Iberdrola increased by two point zero nine percent, and Banco Santander gained one point forty-five percent.
European markets also experienced positive movement, with London’s stocks rising by zero point ninety-four percent amidst favourable company results and a historic agreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union. Milan’s stock exchange grew by zero point eighty-nine percent, while the French CAC-40 increased by zero point seventy-five percent, and Frankfurt’s index surpassed twenty-four thousand points for the first time thanks to easing trade tensions between the United States and China.
Analysts noted an optimistic outlook among investors, indicating that the recent cut in China’s interest rates, the first since October, may be contributing. Market participants are also watching the upcoming G7 finance ministers’ meetings, which could offer insights into currency market adjustments. However, uncertainties remain regarding the ongoing Ukraine war negotiations and the US-China trade discussions, as opinions on both sides seem divided.
