In March, Spanish exports continued to rise, recording an annual increase of eight point five percent, reaching thirty-four billion one hundred nineteen million euros. This figure marks the second highest level for exports in March, outpacing growth rates in both the Eurozone and the wider European Union, which recorded increases of eight percent and seven point five percent, respectively.

Imports also saw considerable growth, climbing by eighteen point three percent to thirty-nine billion six hundred one million euros, highlighting Spain’s robust trade activity in a challenging international context. The strongest surpluses were reported in food, beverages, and tobacco, as well as non-chemical semi-manufactures and the automotive sector.

Additionally, trade balances with key markets demonstrated significant surpluses, particularly with France, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. The exports directed to the European Union represented sixty-one point six percent of the total exports, showing a six point two percent increase from last year, while exports to non-EU countries constituted thirty-eight point four percent, rising by twelve point three percent.

Looking at the year-to-date figures for two thousand twenty-five, from January to March, overall exports increased by two point six percent year-on-year, totalling ninety-five billion eight hundred seventy-three million euros. The number of regular exporters also saw a slight rise of one point one percent, reaching thirty-nine thousand one hundred seventy-six regular exporters, who accounted for the majority of export value.
