A driver involved in a multiple injury incident near the RCDE Stadium in Cornellà has been granted provisional release by the local court. However, she is now under restrictions as her driving licence has been revoked. The incident occurred last Thursday evening, injuring a total of seventeen individuals as they were gathered near the stadium prior to the La Liga football match between RCD Espanyol and FC Barcelona.

According to reports from the High Court of Justice of Catalonia, the driver faces investigations for crimes against road safety, disobedience to authority, and reckless injury. The court has mandated that she appear before authorities on a regular basis and has seized her vehicle. Of the seventeen injured, thirteen were taken to the hospital that night, and as of Saturday, two remained hospitalised, with one person in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.

The local police, known as the Mossos d’Esquadra, are currently investigating the incident to determine why the woman, who was inside her vehicle amidst a crowd, suddenly accelerated, hitting multiple bystanders. While the main theory suggests it was an accident, investigators will also look into her mental state at the time, considering the pressure she may have felt surrounded by exuberant football fans.

Upon her release, the woman left the Cornellà court accompanied by several family members in a car, as authorities continue to probe the details surrounding this alarming event. The investigation seeks clarity regarding the circumstances that led to the injuries of seventeen individuals in this heavily populated area.
