The Guardia Civil has taken three individuals into custody, including the parents of a baby who died following an alleged illegal circumcision in Roquetas de Mar, Almería. Emergency services reported that the baby suffered severe bleeding during the procedure, which was performed at the family’s home by an individual without medical training. Attempts to save the baby’s life were unsuccessful.

Sources confirm that the parents were arrested alongside the man who conducted the circumcision. The authorities commenced an investigation immediately after the incident, leading to searches conducted in connection with the case. The identity of the baby has not been disclosed, but local reports indicate that the family originates from Mali.

The child was transported to a health centre due to excessive blood loss, but medics could confirm only the baby’s death upon arrival. The body has been sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine, where an autopsy will take place to ascertain the exact cause of death.
