Salvamento Marítimo has reported the recovery of twenty-two fridges off the coast of Cádiz over the weekend, along with a container identified as MSMU eight seven one nine eight three zero, which presumably carried them. This unusual situation has prompted the establishment of a comprehensive coordinated response in the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar and the Gulf of Cádiz.

Units including Salvamar Enif, Arcturus, Denébola and the vessel Luz de Mar participated in the operation. They confirmed the fridges had likely fallen overboard along with the container they were in.

The agency has issued a maritime broadcast, as more fridges continue to appear near the Cádiz coastline. They recommend that vessels navigating through the area remain vigilant and assist by reporting any new findings.

The Salvamar Enif recovered eleven fridges, which were deposited at the port of Barbate, while the Salvamar Arcturus located and secured five at the Tarifa dock. Despite the recovery of twenty-two fridges so far, sightings of additional units floating have been reported.
