The Government is insisting on the need to bring a new project for the General State Budgets to the Congress of Deputies, provided that prior agreements with parliamentary groups are in place. Spokesperson Pilar Alegría explained that without assurance of progressing through Parliament, it would only waste time for both the Congress and the public. She remarked that a collaborative approach with the current parliamentary reality is essential for moving forward with the budget for two thousand twenty-five.

Alegría outlined that while the Government aims to have updated budget accounts, it recognises that negotiations take time, and they are fully dedicated to achieving a consensus. Minister Félix Bolaños confirmed that discussions with parliamentary groups occur daily and are paramount for the success of the budget proposal.

Bolaños also clarified the Government’s obligation to present a budget project, while highlighting the constitutional provisions that govern the extension of previous budgets when new ones are not approved. He stressed that the current budgets are beneficial for the country, demonstrating a growth rate four times higher than the European Union average.
