Juanma Badenas, the municipal spokesperson for Vox in Valencia, is under investigation amid serious allegations of irregularities linked to public contracts. The party has confirmed his temporary suspension while the inquiry is underway. This comes as the Socialist Party of the Valencian Region and Compromís announced their intent to report Badenas for alleged influence peddling and political espionage.

Sources reveal that the inquiry stems from a contract worth one hundred and twenty-nine thousand euros awarded to the Mediterranean Institute for Sustainable Development, a company associated with the husband of the Government Delegate in the Valencian Community. Reports indicate that Badenas may have manipulated the contract allocation due to his position with Activa Valencia.

In an audio recording, Badenas purportedly admitted to misusing public funds and targeting political opponents, further escalating the controversy. The situation has attracted significant attention, prompting the Valencia Mayor, María José Catalá, to refer the matter to the City Council’s legal team for further examination.

The political landscape may shift, as Badenas’s suspension could jeopardise the current majority held by PP and Vox in the Valencia City Council, especially if he maintains his position amid ongoing scrutiny from opposing parties.
