More than 80 people have been injured after a bus plunged down a steep embankment in Catalonia.

The crash happened on Sunday afternoon on a mountain road at Fogars de Montclús, between Barcelona and Girona, after the coach collided with a car and left the road.

Seven people were seriously injured, while 58 were taken to hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Another 18 suffered minor injuries.

Emergency services sent 15 ambulances, two medical helicopters and specialist rescue teams to the scene.

The cause of the collision is being investigated.
