Over 6,500 insurance claims made after flooding
More than 6,500 claims for compensation have been submitted following the severe flooding caused by Storm Adam.
Spain’s Insurance Compensation Consortium says it received 6,528 applications for damage caused between the 16th and 18th of October.
More than three-quarters came from Valencia province, including 2,760 from Oliva alone.
Alicante province accounted for a further 847 claims.
The public body says it is preparing to compensate insured households and businesses as quickly as possible, although the full cost of the damage is not yet known.
