A tragic explosion at a bar in the Puente de Vallecas district of Madrid has resulted in the death of a fifty-two-year-old man and left twenty-five others injured. The incident occurred on Saturday at around three o’clock in the afternoon at Mis Tesoros bar. Firefighters discovered the man’s body under over a metre of rubble and sand after continuing search efforts on Sunday morning.

The Madrid Emergency Services reported that in addition to the deceased, three of the injured are in serious condition and two are deemed potentially serious. The explosion not only affected the bar but also the residential building located above it, highlighting the severe impact of the blast.

Javier Ramos, the chief of the guard at Madrid Firefighters, revealed that they received a call from the National Police around midnight. A woman informed them that a relative was missing and believed to be inside the exploded building. Firefighters promptly commenced search operations in conjunction with the canine unit of the National Police.

Following the explosion, the family of the deceased has been attended to by a psychologist from Samur-Protección Civil, reflecting the emotional toll such incidents take on affected families. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers present in urban environments and the swift response of emergency services.
