The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) has reported the recall and cessation of sales for the Kneipp Litsea Cubeba Limón shower gel. This action comes after the discovery of Burkholderia cepacia, a bacterium that may lead to infections in individuals with compromised health or weakened immune systems. The affected batches are numbered two hundred fifty-six thousand nine hundred eighteen, two hundred fifty-six thousand nine hundred seventeen, and two hundred fifty-six thousand nine hundred nineteen, all of which are packaged in two hundred millilitre containers.

Kneipp GmbH, the German company responsible for the product, has already begun removing the gel from retail outlets and is facilitating the return of units purchased by consumers. The product was distributed throughout Spain via pharmacies, para-pharmacies, perfumeries, and online sales.

The AEMPS underscores the importance of safety and advises consumers who possess any of the affected batches to refrain from using the gel. Customers are urged to return the product to the establishment where it was purchased for a full refund. The agency continues to monitor the situation to ensure public health is prioritised.
