Spain has recorded an impressive sixty-three point seven million international air passengers between January and July two thousand twenty-five. This figure marks a six percent increase compared to the same period in two thousand twenty-four, as reported by Turespaña on Tuesday. In July alone, international travellers exceeded eleven point seven million, reflecting a four point three percent increase from the previous year. Notably, arrivals surged from key originating markets, with the exception of Germany.

Among the leading source markets, the United Kingdom delivered two point seven million air passengers, accounting for twenty-three point one percent of total arrivals in Spain, representing a four percent annual growth. The Balearic Islands emerged as the top destination for British tourists, capturing twenty-seven percent of the traffic, followed closely by the Canary Islands at twenty point nine percent. Meanwhile, Galicia and Andalucía experienced substantial growth, both exceeding ten percent.

Germany sent one point six million tourists in July, which comprises thirteen point four percent of the total, but reflects a slight decrease of zero point six percent year-on-year. Although the Balearic Islands remained the primary destination with forty-six point seven percent of arrivals, it recorded a three point two percent decline. Catalonia and the Canary Islands also saw considerable tourist activity, with a one percent drop and a six point one percent increase, respectively. Additionally, tourist arrivals from Italy increased by five percent, attracting one point one million visitors and benefiting all regions except Galicia, which saw a slight decline.

During July, the six main Spanish autonomous communities that welcomed international passengers, namely, Madrid, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Andalucía, and Valencia, accounted for an impressive ninety-seven percent of total arrivals. All six regions witnessed increases in visitor numbers, with the Comunidad Valenciana experiencing the highest rise of eight point two percent. The Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport notably recorded two point two million arrivals in July, a two point five percent increase from two thousand twenty-four, closely followed by Barcelona and Palma airports with near two million and one point eight million passengers, respectively.
