Spanish police have confirmed the tragic discovery of the body of twenty-seven-year-old American hiker Cole Henderson, nearly a month after he went missing. Rescue teams located Henderson in the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, situated along Spain’s border with France. He was reported missing on fourteenth July after failing to return to his home in the Netherlands.

Henderson had parked his vehicle in the town of Torla on ninth July before embarking on his hike. Authorities reported that his body was found in a challenging-to-access area on the north face of Monte Perdido, following a fall of approximately two hundred metres. Unfortunately, he showed no signs of life.

To find Henderson, Spanish authorities deployed multiple teams of search and rescue personnel, including canine handlers and drone operators. Before relocating to Amsterdam, Henderson previously lived in San Francisco and Massachusetts, where he worked as an engineer for various companies.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Henderson was employed by Dexter Energy, a firm that focuses on artificial intelligence solutions for renewable energy companies. He graduated with honours and a degree in computer science in 2020 from Rhodes College, a liberal arts institution in Memphis, Tennessee, and was a proud member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.
