Spain has recorded significant job growth in the second quarter of this year, with more than five hundred thousand new positions created. The latest report from the National Institute of Statistics revealed that the unemployment rate has fallen to ten point twenty-nine percent, the lowest level observed since two thousand eight. This remarkable performance has seen employment levels surpass twenty-two million for the first time in history.

The positive trend is primarily attributed to an increase in hiring linked to the Easter period in April, as well as warmer summer-like temperatures. Notably, seven out of ten new jobs were generated within the Services sector, reflecting a booming demand for workers in hospitality and tourism.

Additionally, the active population reached twenty-four point eight million, marking a record for Spain. This figure represents an increase of two hundred sixty-seven thousand two hundred compared to earlier months in the year, emphasizing the strong growth in the labour market.

The Ministry of Economy highlights that there have been three consecutive quarters of over zero point six percent employment growth, indicating robust dynamism in job creation. With the continued recovery post-pandemic, analysts are optimistic about future trends in Spain’s employment landscape.
