In a recent interview with La Voz de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, President of the People’s Party, has stated that he has appointed no one involved in corruption allegations throughout his thirty years in political service. Feijóo emphasises that his track record is a cornerstone of his political identity and urges the public to evaluate him based on his commitment to integrity.

On the matter of Alberto Nadal’s appointment, who is linked to former Minister Cristóbal Montoro currently under investigation, Feijóo insisted that Nadal bears no responsibility in the issues being scrutinised. He specified that when these events transpired, Nadal was serving in the Ministry of Industry.

Furthermore, Feijóo remarked on the necessity for consistency in addressing corruption, asserting, “There cannot be two measures for corruption. It affects everyone equally.” He also noted that he does not view himself as the next prime minister yet, stating that the decision ultimately rests with voters at the polls.

In a separate commentary, former President of the Community of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, expressed support for the investigation into Montoro, who faces allegations of bribery and fraud. Aguirre recounted her experience during the twenty fifteen municipal elections, where she believed leaks regarding her tax declaration impacted her candidacy.
