In the early hours of Saturday, an incident involving a Ryanair plane at Palma Airport led to minor injuries for eighteen passengers. Medical services responded promptly to the alarm, which was raised around twelve thirty. Six individuals were transported to local medical facilities, including the Clínica Rotger and Hospital Palmaplanas in Palma.

Initial reports suggested a fire onboard, but Ryanair clarified that there was never a fire inside the aircraft. The injuries were primarily sustained during the evacuation process via inflatable slides, with many passengers experiencing minor issues such as ankle sprains.

The flight, destined for Manchester, was disrupted due to a false fire warning, leading to evacuation procedures. Ryanair has since arranged for a replacement aircraft, which took off at seven oh five on Saturday morning to minimise inconvenience for the affected travellers.

This incident coincides with a period of disruption at Palma Airport, exacerbated by a strike involving French air traffic controllers. Hundreds of delays are anticipated, impacting over one thousand scheduled flights today.
