The Provincial Court of Madrid has ruled to partially accept the appeal filed by Cristina Álvarez, the advisor to Begoña Gómez, the wife of the Prime Minister. This decision results in the annulment of Álvarez’s previous testimony given in December twenty twenty-four and allows for further investigation into her actions.

The court confirmed that the investigation would focus on whether Álvarez exceeded her public functions to support alleged criminal plans related to influence peddling and corruption. The judge, Juan Carlos Peinado, had begun investigating Begoña Gómez for her supposed involvement in these activities.

In her previous testimony, Álvarez indicated that she had been employed since two thousand eighteen to assist Gómez with her public and private engagements while ensuring her security. The court noted that there may have been significant misuse of public resources in support of private interests, calling for closer scrutiny of her functions.
