Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the leader of Spain’s People’s Party, has strongly criticised the recent Conference of Presidents for failing to reach any agreements. He remarked that it is concerning to see no minimum recommendations made with a full agenda of fourteen points. During an event in Santander, Feijóo described the government of Pedro Sánchez as redundant, asserting it has degraded the political landscape in Spain and calling for urgent change.

Feijóo stated, ‘This country is much better than the indecent government it suffers.’ He pledged to carry out a complete cleaning of the government, insisting that Spain does not sell out or auction its values. He voiced concerns about Sánchez’s capability to deliver solutions, characterising the current political situation as a ‘daily show of decomposition’.

With a demonstration planned for this Sunday in Madrid against ‘mafia and corruption’, Feijóo encouraged ‘decent Spain’ to raise their voices in protest. He claimed that Sánchez’s only project seems to be to manage the next scandal effectively to cling to power.

Cuca Gamarra, the secretary general of the People’s Party, echoed these sentiments and noted that a motion of censure against Sánchez will coincide with the next general elections. Gamarra highlighted the challenges faced by the Party in securing numbers for such a motion due to Sánchez’s political alliances.
