In a coordinated effort, the National Police of Spain and the Polizia di Stato of Italy have apprehended a father and son in Málaga wanted for drug trafficking. The two individuals were subject to European arrest warrants issued by Italy, implicating them in serious drug offenses, with potential sentences of up to thirty years. They had been operating as part of a criminal organization from August twenty twenty to December twenty twenty-one.

During this period, the pair were responsible for the importation, transportation, and distribution of significant quantities of illicit substances, including cocaine, marijuana, and hashish. The investigation revealed that they were also involved in laundering the proceeds of their illicit activities, generating around one and a half million euros by reinvesting in various businesses, emulating the ‘Hawala’ financial system.

Through collaborative surveillance efforts, authorities successfully located the fugitives in Málaga and Torremolinos. Once positioned, a coordinated plan for their arrest was initiated, leading to their capture in the early hours of May twenty. The arrests have effectively dismantled the local branch of the criminal organization.

This operation highlights the ongoing international efforts against drug trafficking and underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies in both Spain and Italy to combat organized crime.
