In a significant operation, the National Police and the Civil Guard have worked together to recover more than one hundred thirty vehicles that had been stolen within the European Union and registered in Spain. This extensive sweep has led to the arrest of fifteen individuals, including the seizure of luxury and premium vehicles, one valued at two hundred fifty thousand euros.

Investigations commenced in January twenty twenty four when officers analysed vehicle registration files, identifying fraudulent entries related to cars that were reported stolen after being registered in Spain. The meticulous assessment gathered crucial information from various Traffic Provincial Headquarters and Inspection Stations.

Criminal activities included the manipulation of original vehicle identification numbers, which allowed the perpetrators to sell stolen vehicles under false identities or fabricate completely fictitious registrations. In some cases, the vehicles stemmed from leasing situations, which caused challenges for the finance companies when they discovered the fraud.

The operation, which took place across Madrid, Andalucía, and the Valencian Community, discovered vehicles worth an estimated total of three point six million euros. Authorities expect further arrests as the investigation continues, shedding light on a complex web of criminal activity financing their illegal operations.
