In April twenty twenty five, the tourism sector in Spain saw a notable rise in Social Security memberships, reflecting a three point five percent increase from the previous year. This growth resulted in an addition of ninety eight thousand six hundred thirty eight workers, bringing the total number of tourism-related members to over two million nine hundred thousand. This data includes the positive effects of Holy Week’s holiday period, which traditionally boosts travel and hospitality sectors.

Every branch of the tourism industry reported growth during this month, with the hospitality sector adding fifty four thousand two hundred eighty two members. Within this, accommodation services recorded an increase of twenty one thousand one hundred fifty two, while food and beverage services saw an addition of thirty three thousand one hundred thirty. Travel agencies also contributed, adding two thousand two hundred seventy three workers, along with an increase of forty two thousand eighty three in other tourism activities.

The employment landscape in the tourism sector continues to strengthen, with salaried positions rising by four percent compared to April last year. This figure represents eighty two point six percent of total tourism employment. Specific activity sectors such as travel agencies and tour operators noted a two point five percent growth, and the accommodation services sector saw an upward trend of five point four percent.

Regionally, the Balearic Islands led the way with a five percent increase in tourism employment, followed by Cantabria at three point nine percent and the Valencia Community at three point seven percent. This growth trend highlights the resilience and ongoing demand for tourism services across the country, despite challenges faced in previous years.
