The Guardia Civil has detained the final crew member of a narcolancha linked to a fatal incident in Barbate, Cádiz. The suspect, who is Moroccan and had been in hiding, had an international arrest warrant issued against him since September twenty twenty-four. His capture brings to a close a lengthy pursuit, allowing all involved in this tragic case to face justice.

The investigation was initiated following the violent incident on February ninth, twenty twenty-four, when the illegal vessel collided with a Guardia Civil patrol boat. The impact tragically resulted in the deaths of officers David Pérez and Miguel Ángel González, and left four others injured, marking one of the most severe episodes of narcotraffic related violence in recent years.

Earlier arrests included the alleged pilot of the narcolancha, Karim El Baqqali, detained on September nineteenth, twenty twenty-four, who described the event as an accident after voluntarily surrendering. He currently faces multiple serious charges, including two counts of murder and four of attempted murder.

Following El Baqqali, two additional crew members were arrested on November eighth, twenty twenty-four, also holding Moroccan nationality. They face the same charges as the pilot, with all involved now in custody and expected to appear before the Spanish judicial authorities.
