A serious incident occurred early this morning in Palma de Mallorca, where at least five people were injured in a multiple pedestrian accident. The collision happened at the intersection of Avenida Argentina and Calle Conde de Barcelona, prompting emergency services to respond swiftly at one nineteen AM. Among the injured, two individuals, a thirty-four-year-old male and a twenty-eight-year-old female, are reported in serious condition, with one receiving urgent care at the Son Espases Hospital.

The authorities confirmed that two additional women, aged thirty-six and thirty, were transported to the Clínica Rotger with non-serious injuries. Furthermore, a thirty-nine-year-old male was taken to Hospital Quirónsalud Palmaplanas for treatment, also with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the local police, the accident involved two cars that struck pedestrians seated on a nearby bench. The response included two Advanced Life Support units and two Basic Life Support units to handle the situation adequately.

Following the incident, the police carried out breathalyser tests on the drivers of the vehicles involved. One driver tested positive for alcohol, but the reading was below the threshold of zero point sixty milligrams per litre in exhaled air, indicating a potential administrative infraction. If the ongoing investigation reveals alcohol was a factor in the accident, this may escalate to a criminal charge.
