The Tribunal de Cuentas has imposed a fine of eight hundred sixty-two thousand four hundred ninety-six euros on Vox for severe legal infractions. The fine results from the party’s acceptance of unidentified cash donations during the fiscal years twenty eighteen, nineteen, and twenty, which violates the Article Seventeen point two of the Organic Law on Political Party Financing.

During a recent plenary meeting, the fine was approved despite dissent from two council members. Vox’s leadership, led by Santiago Abascal, intends to challenge the ruling in the Supreme Court, asserting that it is an ‘unjust’ decision without proper legal grounding.

Vox maintains that the funds in question originated from merchandise sales linked to their promotional activities, not anonymous donations. They also argue that the Tribunal has previously dismissed similar issues involving other parties, indicating potential inconsistency in enforcing these rules.

This is not the first penalty faced by Vox; last July, they were fined two hundred thirty-three thousand three hundred euros for irregular financial practices related to legal actions funded by donations. The ongoing scrutiny of Vox’s financial situation raises questions about transparency in political funding.
