The April barometer conducted by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas shows the PSOE leading with an estimated thirty-two point six percent of the vote. This figure indicates a slight decline of nearly two points compared to the previous month, but it increases the PSOE’s lead over the Popular Party by six point five points. The Popular Party, or PP, has dropped to twenty-six point one percent, falling over three points since March.

In contrast, Vox has experienced a significant increase, now standing at fifteen point two percent after rising three point five points compared to last month. Among the main parties, Vox is the only one to show an upward trend. Meanwhile, Sumar has decreased to six point two percent, reflecting a drop of one point four points.

The barometer results come from a substantial sample of over four thousand surveys conducted across Spain between April first and eighth. Most surveys were completed after the second of April, following significant trade policies implemented by U.S. President Donald Trump.

While Trump announced a ninety-day pause on tariffs on the ninth of April, the barometer results were already concluded prior to this announcement. These findings illustrate the current political landscape in Spain and the shifting dynamics among the leading parties as they approach upcoming elections.
