The Spanish government has announced an extension of the MOVES III electric mobility incentive programme. This initiative allocates four hundred million euros in subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles and the development of charging infrastructure. The funding will be available for purchases made from January first twenty twenty-four until December thirty-first twenty twenty-five, with grants available of up to seven thousand euros for vehicles and up to seventy percent of costs for charging points.

Minister Sara Aagesen, responsible for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, framed this decision as part of the government’s commitment to electric mobility, aimed at both industrial development and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The new measures also include a fifteen percent personal income tax deduction for twenty twenty-five and simplified administrative procedures. Aagesen expressed confidence in the programme, stating it would help maintain the upward trend in electric vehicle registrations.

Since its inception, the MOVES III programme has facilitated the acquisition of over one hundred forty thousand electric vehicles and the installation of more than one hundred thirteen thousand charging points across the country. Aagesen also noted that Spain currently manufactures twenty-five electric vehicle models and has over forty thousand public charging stations, positioning the nation as a leader in green initiatives and decarbonised mobility.

Overall, the extension of MOVES III not only aims to support individual consumers but also addresses international pressures affecting the automotive sector, ensuring a robust response to current challenges in the market.
