In a significant gathering in Paris, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez joined other world leaders to discuss strategies for supporting Ukraine amidst ongoing conflict. Organised by French President Emmanuel Macron, the meeting focused on building a solid foundation for peace in Ukraine and Europe. Sánchez highlighted the necessity of maintaining pressure on Russia to facilitate a ceasefire, crucial for reaching a just and lasting peace.

During the meeting, Sánchez reiterated that security in Ukraine is directly linked to European security. He expressed the importance of Spain’s continued support for Ukraine, stating that it strengthens their position during discussions led by the United States. He underscored that Europe plays an integral role in achieving a permanent agreement once peace talks are underway.

Sánchez’s presence in Paris also aimed to reaffirm Spain’s unwavering commitment to the Ukrainian people. He praised their efforts towards attaining peace and communicated through social media that European unity is essential in addressing the ongoing crisis. The gathering drew participation from around twenty leaders, including representatives from the European Union, the United Kingdom, Norway, Turkey, Canada, and top officials from the European Commission and NATO.
