Tragedy struck this Saturday at Moncayo Natural Park in Zaragoza when three mountaineers fell from an area known as the Escupidera. According to the Civil Guard, the alarm was raised at around two PM, prompting an immediate response from rescue teams including the Mountain Rescue Group from Tarazona and the Civil Guard Air Unit based in Huesca.
The difficult weather conditions hindered access to the accident site, forcing specialists to reach the area on foot. Upon arrival, they discovered that two of the mountaineers had sustained injuries deemed incompatible with life.
Despite efforts to rescue the third individual, they were found in critical condition. Unfortunately, this person succumbed to their injuries a short time later.
Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, reminding mountaineers to take precautions when navigating challenging terrain, especially in adverse weather conditions.
