The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has initiated a new funding scheme worth ten million euros aimed at reducing subscription fees for public bicycle rental services by at least fifty percent in twenty twenty-five. This initiative seeks to encourage the use of shared bicycles for daily commuting, highlighting its role in promoting sustainable and healthy urban mobility.

Local and supramunicipal entities operating public bicycle rental services are eligible for these grants. Interested parties must submit applications through the ministry’s electronic headquarters by the thirtieth of April, twenty twenty-five, to qualify for this financial support.

To access the funding, applicants must have implemented a tariff system for recurring titles in their bicycle rental services. Furthermore, entities within low emission zones must demonstrate effective implementation of these areas or commit to doing so by the end of twenty twenty-five. Conditions include having a valid municipal regulation and active monitoring measures in place.

Entities applying within thirty natural days of the fund’s announcement may request an advance payment equal to thirty percent of the total revenue from subscription sales in twenty twenty-four. Following the reporting period from the first of January to the thirty-first of December twenty twenty-five, the General Directorate of Mobility Strategies will process payments for the grants.
