An investigation is underway in Badajoz following the tragic murder of a thirty-five-year-old social educator in a supported housing unit. The victim was allegedly killed by three minors, aged fourteen, fifteen, and seventeen, during her night shift on Sunday. Authorities have opened judicial proceedings on charges of homicide, robbery with violence, and violations of road safety laws.

Initial reports suggest that the educator was asphyxiated with a belt. Following the assault, the minors took the keys to her vehicle and fled towards Mérida, but their escape ended in a traffic accident near Lobón. Police apprehended the suspects shortly after, responding to a call regarding a heated argument at the residence.

In response to this incident, over fifty workers and representatives from child welfare centres gathered in Badajoz to demand increased safety measures and a reconsideration of the minimum age for criminal liability, citing a rise in aggression among minors in recent months.

The family of the youngest suspect has expressed their condolences and apologies to the victim’s family, acknowledging the tragedy and the deep impact it has had on their lives. They have committed to cooperating fully with authorities and handling the consequences of this horrible event.
