Multiple regions in Spain are grappling with severe weather conditions, with reports of a fatality in Lorca. Emergency responders recovered the body of a fifty-year-old man swept away by floodwaters. Additionally, two climbers were rescued from the Sierra de Gredos after going missing.
The heavy snowfall has led to blocked roads heading to Madrid, leaving numerous vehicles stuck, particularly in Soria. Citizens are reminded to stay away from affected areas as authorities raise alerts for rain in Catalonia, Valencia, and Andalusia, where up to one hundred litres could fall in twelve hours.
A total of thirty-three roads are currently closed due to dangerous conditions resulting from the adverse weather, necessitating care for drivers across affected provinces. In some areas, snow chains and specific tyres are required.
As the region continues to monitor the situation, citizens are urged to exercise extreme caution, especially in light of changing weather forecasts and persistent rainfall. Emergency services are on high alert across multiple locations.
