Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez attended the International Support for Ukraine Summit in Kiev, commemorating the third anniversary of the Russian aggression. The summit serves as a vital platform for international leaders to reaffirm their dedication to supporting Ukraine during these challenging times. Before the summit, Sánchez participated in a memorial event at the Fallen Heroes Monument, honoring the victims of the ongoing conflict.

During the plenary session, Sánchez condemned the aggression by Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasising the systematic violation of humanitarian principles. He announced a new military assistance package for Ukraine worth one billion euros in twenty twenty-five, building on over one billion euros provided the previous year.

Sánchez highlighted Spain’s commitment to working closely with Ukraine on reconstruction efforts. In response to ongoing humanitarian needs, he revealed plans to establish a ‘House of Ukraine’ in Torrevieja, Alicante, aimed at supporting the Ukrainian community in Spain. This initiative is part of Spain’s ongoing dedication, with more than one hundred million euros allocated to humanitarian action since February twenty twenty-two.

In closing his remarks, Sánchez reiterated Spain’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, stating that only Ukraine can decide its future. He underscored the importance of achieving a fair and sustainable peace, welcoming all efforts that lead to this goal while advocating for Ukraine’s swift incorporation into the European Union. Sánchez expressed admiration for the courage displayed by the Ukrainian people as they defend freedom and democracy against aggression.
