Torrevieja approves 2025 accounts amid dispute over unpaid bills and future investment

Torrevieja’s council has definitively approved its 2025 general accounts at an extraordinary plenary meeting. The accounts include the council and its two autonomous bodies, the Municipal Habaneras Board and the Joaquín Chapaprieta Municipal Institute of Culture. They show an adjusted budget result of €10.15 million and total treasury funds of €45.36 million, including about €19.6 million available for general spending. A judge in Benidorm has ordered a man to remain in provisional custody without bail while he is investigated over alleged repeated sexual assaults against his partner. Four men have been arrested in Orihuela Costa after a man was allegedly held and assaulted inside a premises. Police were alerted at about 8pm on Monday that a man was being kept inside and threatened. The caller also warned that those involved might be carrying firearms. Homeless encampment at Cartagena’s Cartagonova Stadium ends

The homeless encampment outside Cartagena’s Cartagonova Stadium has ended after Cartagena City Council intervened last week to clear the site. During an appearance by Jesús Giménez Gallo, spokesperson and secretary general of MC, a man who said he was one of those affected by the council operation went to the city council’s administrative offices in San Miguel Street. Torrevieja hotel plan clears environmental hurdle

Torrevieja Council’s governing team has approved the environmental and strategic report for a proposed 11-storey, 36-metre hotel in La Veleta. The decision rejects all 15 objections submitted by residents, interested parties and property owners. The site is at the junction of Mar del Coral and Mar del Norte, a few metres from the coast.
