Orihuela Council has expanded its municipal network of semiautomatic external defibrillators with seven new outdoor devices. The move is intended to strengthen the resources available for immediate action when someone suffers a cardiac arrest. Four devices are already installed and operational in La Aparecida, Entrenaranjos, Desamparados and the Playa Flamenca promenade. Seven migrants, believed to be Algerian men, have reached Santa Pola del Este beach in Alicante by boat. This year’s theme is “Torrevieja and me”, and the contest invites older residents to share their personal connection with the city through photographs of its landscapes, streets, beaches, traditions, everyday places and personal memories. A 26-year-old man has been injured after a cornice fell from a building in Cartagena during the early hours of Thursday, 27 August. The incident took place at the building housing the Social Security Centre for Attention and Information, on Calle de la Caridad.
