Four arrested over alleged bank card fraud in Elche

The National Police have arrested four men aged between 21 and 33 in Elche, suspected of belonging to an organised group that used other people’s bank cards to buy high-end mobile phones online. The devices were allegedly resold on the second-hand market. A report by the director-conservator of the Southern Alicante Natural Parks has warned that construction on certain land in the La Ceñuela development at Torrevieja is incompatible with the rules protecting the Torrevieja and La Mata lagoons. Spain’s Directorate General for Traffic, known as the DGT, has forecast 908,160 journeys on roads across the Valencian Community between Friday 28 and Monday 31 August. Man wanted by San Javier court arrested after foot chase

Local police in San Javier have arrested a man wanted by a court in the town after a foot chase through the streets early on Monday. Police sources said the suspect has a previous record for drug trafficking. Torrevieja firefighters rescue fox from irrigation reservoir

Firefighters from the Vega Sur station in Torrevieja have rescued a fox after it accidentally fell into an irrigation reservoir in Los Montesinos. The beaches at La Glea and Aguamarina in Orihuela have reopened after new tests confirmed that water quality is within the limits set by health and environmental authorities. Murcia government to meet in Cartagena over migrant arrivals

Murcia’s president, Fernando López Miras, has announced that the regional government will meet in Cartagena on Thursday to discuss what he has described as a “serious situation” linked to irregular migrant arrivals. The meeting will take place in the port city. Around fifty people arrived at Cala Dentoles, in the Calblanque Regional Park within Cartagena municipality, early on Wednesday. It was the third landing involving irregular migrants in the area in a week.
