Tourism boom creates 1,664 extra jobs in Murcia

The tourism boom in the Region of Murcia this summer has been reflected strongly in the sector’s employment figures. The region has recorded 1,664 more tourism workers than at the same point last year. The increase follows a summer with record figures for visitors and revenue across hotels, apartments, campsites, rural houses, restaurants, bars, travel operators and other tourism-related businesses. The figures are also affected by the sector’s clearly seasonal nature.

Torrevieja police seize 155 suspected counterfeit sports products

Torrevieja Local Police have seized 155 products suspected of being counterfeit after stopping a vehicle for failing to obey a STOP sign on Sunday afternoon. The traffic offence led officers to inspect the car, where they found four bags containing sports clothing and footwear. The haul included 54 pairs of trainers and 101 sports kits bearing Nike and Adidas branding. Temporary third lane proposed for congested Torrevieja bypass

Plans to dual the N-332 bypass through Torrevieja are not expected to begin soon, despite the road carrying up to 55,000 vehicles a day during the busiest periods in July and August. Torrevieja demands more state security staff after rise in offences

Torrevieja Town Council has demanded an immediate, permanent and sufficient increase in state security staff after official figures showed that recorded criminal offences rose from 9,316 in 2024 to 10,089 in 2025. The 8.3% increase is the highest total recorded in the city. The council has highlighted 87 offences against sexual freedom, including 26 sexual assaults involving penetration, which represented a 44.4% increase. Three dead tuna have washed ashore at separate locations in Torrevieja. Guardamar police recover lost handbag using mobile phone tracking

Police in Guardamar del Segura have recovered a woman’s lost handbag after tracking the location of a mobile phone inside it. The phone’s geolocation allowed officers to follow the belongings and gradually narrow the search area.
