First-look images have been released showing Paddington in the lead role for a new West End musical. Paddington The Musical will begin previews at London’s Savoy Theatre, following the bear’s arrival in London after a chance meeting at a railway station.

The production features off-stage puppeteer James Hameed voicing Paddington, with on-stage performer Arti Shah assisting in the portrayal. It is adapted from Michael Bond’s books and the related films. The cast includes Amy Ellen Richardson as Mrs Brown, Adrian Der Gregorian as Mr Brown, and Bonnie Langford as Mrs Bird. The show is written by Jessica Swale with music and lyrics by Tom Fletcher.

Producers Sonia Friedman and Eliza Lumley said they are excited to bring Paddington to life on stage, alongside StudioCanal. The Paddington films are produced by StudioCanal, and Paddington and Company have launched legal action against Avalon, alleging copyright infringement.
