Kemi Badenoch marks first year as Tory leader with rebuilding pledge
Poll data suggests the public remains unconvinced that Badenoch is the right candidate to lead the country. YouGov placed only 12% of respondents as believing she is a prime minister in waiting, with 62% disagreeing. Among Conservative members, 54% think she is doing a good job, while 24% feel she has done a bad job, in a survey of 2,136 British adults conducted between 28 and 29 October. Analysts note the Tories lag Labour in popularity, while Reform UK continues to lead public opinion. Some former Conservatives have defected to Reform, and backbench critics have voiced concerns privately rather than publicly.
