Jaguar Land Rover says parts of its IT systems are back online as it implements a phased restart after a cyber attack. The British carmaker has paused production at its UK plants for several weeks, with the shutdown expected to run until 1 October at the earliest.

Some digital services are now operational, allowing the company to clear a backlog of payments to suppliers. A JLR spokesman said: “As part of the controlled, phased restart of our operations, today we have informed colleagues, suppliers and retail partners that sections of our digital estate are now up and running. The foundational work of our recovery programme is firmly under way.” The firm added that it had increased its invoice processing capacity, enabling it to resume supplier payments.

Unions and politicians warn that small suppliers could fail without urgent financial support. JLR said its global parts logistics centre, which supplies spare parts for servicing vehicles, was returning to full operations. It has also resumed processing wholesales of vehicles, helping to speed up sales and registrations. The company said it is working around the clock with cybersecurity specialists, the UK Government’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and law enforcement to restart in a safe and secure manner.
