Citroen and Vauxhall have announced a recall for the C3, C3 Aircross and Frontera models after a fault could detach the brake pedal. Citroen has ordered a stop-drive action for owners of the latest generation of the C3 and C3 Aircross while inspections take place.

The issue concerns right-hand-drive versions of the C3 and C3 Aircross, where the pedal box may not meet UK specifications and could lead to a loss of braking. This is the group’s third stop-drive recall this year, following earlier problems with airbag units on several models including the C3, C4, DS3, DS4 and DS5. A Citroen spokesperson said safety is Stellantis’ top priority and that affected customers will receive a replacement vehicle during checks; if needed, the cars will be rectified. The group added that automatic emergency braking and the electronic parking brake would still operate in such cases.

Vauxhall deliveries of the Frontera have not started; cars are being inspected and, if necessary, rectified. Stellantis said it would act swiftly and transparently to address the issue, and customers with concerns should contact customer services or their local retailer.
