Robert Redford dies aged 89
Actor and director Robert Redford has died aged 89. He was known for roles in films including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, All the President’s Men and The Sting. He also directed feature films such as Ordinary People, which earned him an Oscar.
Redford founded the Sundance Film Festival, which has taken place annually in Utah since 1978. A statement from publicist Cindi Berger, on behalf of Rogers and Cowan PMK, said Redford died on 16 September 2025 at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah, surrounded by loved ones. The family has requested privacy.
