The BBC has released the first official image of the 15 celebrities taking part in Strictly Come Dancing’s 23rd series. The picture shows all contestants in colourful outfits ahead of the new run, which begins on 20 September with presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly.

Many wore pink in the shot. Dani Dyer wore a tasselled pink dress with a plunging V-neck to the waist, while pink details were seen on Alex Kingston and Ellie Goldstein. Karen Carney wore a hot pink dress with a plunging neckline, and Harry Aikines-Aryeete chose bright pink trousers with a shirt that showed his chest. George Clarke wore magenta trousers with a pale pink belt and a floral pink-patterned T-shirt. Le Voix appeared in red, Vicky Pattison wore a fitted yellow dress, Balvinder Sopal wore turquoise, while Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Lewis Cope wore blue tones. Stefan Dennis, Ross King and Chris Robshaw wore patterned suits, and Thomas Skinner wore a pale blue suit with sparkly lapels.

Over 12 weeks the cast will perform tango, jive, salsa and quickstep with their professional partners. The judging panel of Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke will score the pairs as they compete for the Glitterball Trophy. The show has also won the National Television Awards prize for a 10th consecutive year. Last year’s 20th anniversary edition was won by comedian Chris McCausland and dancer Dianne Buswell.
