The Duke of Sussex has given £1.1m from his personal funds to BBC Children in Need to support young people affected by violence, charity officials have said. The donation was announced during a visit to the Community Recording Studio in Nottingham on Tuesday, as part of a four‑day solo programme in the UK.

During the stop, he praised the work of the CRS and its partner Epic Partners and reflected on the lessons Nottingham has taught him, saying he will continue to stand with the city and that it holds a permanent place in his heart. He also noted the ongoing challenges faced by communities and the continued urgency of work to help youths at risk of violence.

A spokesman said the money came from Harry’s own funds. The donation will back grassroots organisations in Nottingham addressing violence affecting young people, with BBC Children in Need contributing a further £300,000 to related work. The charity said the gift will help extend support to communities where young people need a safe space, trust and opportunities to thrive.
