Golden, the title track from Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters, has topped the Official Singles Chart. It is the first K-pop number one in 13 years. The song is by the animated group HUNTR/X and climbed from four to the summit following last week’s position. In the albums chart, Merseyside band The K’s claim their first chart-topping album with Pretty On The Internet. The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack remains at the top of the Official Compilations Chart for a sixth consecutive week. Official Charts data show this marks the first time a K-pop act has reached number one on the Official Singles Chart since PSY’s Gangnam Style in 2012.

Two more tracks from the film’s soundtrack make the top 20: Your Idol by Saja Boys, Andrew Choi and Neckwav rises to number 10, while Soda Pop climbs to 11. The most significant new entry is Drake and Central Cee’s Which One, straight in at number four. Justin Bieber slides from the top to number two with Daisies, while MK’s Dior with Chrystal is at three and Sabrina Carpenter’s Manchild sits at five. Tinashe achieves a top-10 with Disco Lines’ No Broke Boys at eight. Ozzy Osbourne’s death continues to lift Black Sabbath’s back catalogue, with Paranoid at 20, Iron Man at 48 and Crazy Train at 25.

The K’s, formed in Earlestown, previously enjoyed top-five success with their 2024 debut I Wonder If The World Knows? Their album is the week’s best-selling vinyl, the most-downloaded, and the top seller in UK independent shops. At the top of the albums, Oasis continue to feature prominently as Time Flies… 1994-2009 sits at No. 2, What’s The Story Morning Glory? is No. 3, and Definitely Maybe is No. 6. Alex Warren’s You’ll Be Alright Kid (Chapter 1) sits at No. 4, ahead of Paul Weller with Find El Dorado at No. 5. Memoirs Of A Madman returns to the top 40 at 32, The Ultimate Collection rises to 14, and Paranoid re-enters at 38. Madonna adds Veronica Electronica (No. 23) to her catalogue, while Gary Numan debuts at No. 34 with A Perfect Circle. Martin Talbot, chief executive of Official Charts, said: ‘It’s 13 years since PSY’s Gangnam Style became the first K-Pop Number 1 in the UK, way back in October 2012, but this week represents another landmark moment for the globally dominating South Korean genre.’ He added: ‘While the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack tops the Official Compilations Chart again this week, the film also claims Number 1 in the Official Singles Chart through HUNTR/X’s Golden.’ He concluded: ‘For the many music fans who have been to their enormous concerts, bought their merch and streamed their iconic songs, this will forever be the summer of Oasis – but K-pop’s superstars are certainly giving the Gallaghers a run for their money.’
