Minister urges use of £3 bus fare cap for trips to attractions
England’s £3 (€3.51) bus fare cap remains in place on thousands of routes until March 2027. The policy is aimed at making travel cheaper and encouraging people to plan days out by bus. Simon Lightwood, the Minister for Local Transport, said the cap helps families enjoy what their area has to offer and supports investment in better, more reliable bus services across the country.
Popular destinations accessible under the scheme include Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Warwick Castle, West Midlands Safari Park and the National Space Centre.
Merlin Entertainments noted it encourages people to leave the car at home and has seen an uptick in visits to its sites by public transport. VisitBritain chief executive Patricia Yates described the policy as removing barriers to England’s first-class attractions while supporting greener travel choices.
