The Palestinian Health Ministry says more than 62,000 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza war now entering its 22nd month. It notes that in the last 24 hours at least 60 people died, taking the total since the conflict began on 7 October 2023 to 62,004, with 156,230 wounded overall.

The ministry added that 1,965 people have died while seeking aid or near aid distribution sites, and that at least seven Palestinians were killed while attempting to access aid on Monday morning. The count does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, according to the ministry, which is staffed by medical professionals. The United Nations and other independent observers regard the figures as the most reliable casualty tally, though Israel has disputed them and has not issued its own total.

On Monday, Egypt’s foreign minister condemned Israel’s plan to forcibly resettle Palestinians outside Gaza and said Cairo is seeking to restart ceasefire talks with Qatar. Mediators are making extensive efforts to revive a US proposal for a 60‑day ceasefire that would allow negotiators to pursue an end to the war, the Egyptian foreign minister, Badr Abdelatty, said from the Egyptian side of the border crossing with Gaza. He met Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa there.
