Tea-time with Toddy TKO Radio
Prince and Princess of Wales have moved into Forest Lodge, a Grade II-listed eight-bedroom home in Windsor Great Park, leaving Adelaide Cottage in Home Park. The relocation occurred during the autumn half-term with the aim of settling in by Bonfire Night, and the family are now living there with their children.
Kate, the Princess of Wales, has been recovering from cancer, and the move comes as Prince William prepares for a solo trip to Rio for the Earthshot Prize awards. The couple are temporarily closer to Andrew Mountbatten Windsor at Royal Lodge, about 1.4 miles away by air. Andrew has agreed to leave Royal Lodge for a home on the King’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk in the New Year, following his removal of prince and Duke of York titles amid the Epstein affair; he denies the sexual assault allegations made by Virginia Giuffre.
Security around Forest Lodge was tightened in September ahead of the move. A security exclusion zone around the property was put in place, and Cranbourne Gate and the Cranbourne car park were closed, prompting frustration among nearby residents. Some within half a mile had previously been able to apply for keys to access the gate for £110-a-year (€127.6). Additional fencing has been erected along the 2.3-mile perimeter of the 150-acre no-go zone, and the site is designated under SOCPA 2005, making trespass a criminal offence. The Wales family also own Anmer Hall in Norfolk and Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace in London.
