Glasgow has for the first time introduced firework control zones in Pollokshields, Govanhill and Broomhouse ahead of Bonfire Night. The zones were delayed last year after Glasgow City Council failed to issue the required legal notice in time. The controls apply from 1 to 10 November 2025.

Within the zones it is a criminal offence to set off a firework in public or private spaces during 1–10 November. Sparklers are allowed. Police Scotland will enforce the restrictions, with breaches carrying up to six months in prison and a fine of up to £5,000 (€5,750).

A Glasgow City Council spokesman said the zones had strong support from residents during public consultation and that the council, with police and fire services, considered all applications and reviewed incident data from previous years. He added that people are fed up with fireworks misuse and the zones should help the police tackle disorder in the most affected communities. Police Scotland said last year more than 60 people were reported for fireworks offences and that more resources are being directed this year, with some officers in the Tayside and Edinburgh areas wearing body-worn cameras as part of Operation Moonbeam. Edinburgh also began FCZs in nine areas from 31 October to 9 November.
